Tech giants Microsoft and Google are teaming up to offer new Windows 10 PCs that can be used with Surface tablets, making them cheaper than traditional PCs.
The partnership between Microsoft and the world’s leading computer maker is the latest move to help keep costs low and expand Windows 10.
Microsoft and Microsoft Research announced the partnership earlier this month and the Surface tablet is the first of several new products to be announced.
The Surface Tablet will be available for preorder starting Nov. 1 for $999.99 with a limited number of units that will be shipped in a handful of markets.
Microsoft’s announcement comes on the heels of an announcement that the company will soon launch an affordable Windows 8 machine, the Surface RT, as well as its new Surface Pro 4 tablet.
Microsoft is aiming to offer more affordable PCs for consumers and developers with Windows 10 and a number of new Surface tablet offerings will follow.
The company said that Windows 10 will include the ability to upgrade a PC’s operating system to Windows 10 Professional.
Microsoft also said that the Surface tablets will be compatible with Windows 8 Pro, meaning they will run the same software as PCs running Windows 8 and Windows 7.
Microsoft will also be bringing a new version of Windows 8 to the Surface.
The new Surface tablets come at a time when Windows 8 is expected to lose market share to the Mac and Apple iOS platforms.
Microsoft previously released the Surface Pro 3, a laptop with a touchscreen and built-in keyboard that was priced at $1,299.99.
The Pro 3 sold out within a few weeks of its launch.
Windows 8 also lost a lot of market share during the second half of 2016.
However, Windows 8 has become more popular than ever with users upgrading to Windows 8 on Windows RT and on the Surface and now with the introduction of Windows 10 on a new Surface.
Microsoft has already said that it plans to make its Surface tablets more affordable, and now it seems like it is taking another step in that direction.
Microsoft announced that the device will be made available to retailers on Nov. 3.
The retail pricing of the device is set to start at $899.99 and will increase to $1.99 in the following months.
