On a day when solar power generated about 15 percent of the nation’s power, it’s getting a lot of attention.
It’s also the focus of an upcoming documentary about the solar technology powering the future.
The solar power revolution is on track to take off and will drive up electric vehicle costs and reduce the need for fossil fuels, the American Academy of Engineering said in a report released Thursday.
It predicted that in 2020, more than 60 percent of electricity from solar will come from solar power.

Nesmith said the Aae report is the first step toward bringing more people to solar power.
“What we are trying to do is not just to educate people, but to give them the knowledge and the confidence to actually get on board,” he said in an interview.
The report looks at the different types of solar panels that are used, the efficiency of the panels, how much energy they produce and how they are deployed.
It also examines how solar power is currently being deployed in the U.S. and across the world.
The documentary will focus on two solar cells: a 1,000 watt solar cell manufactured by Panasonic and a 500 watt one made by a company called SunPower.
The AAE said the solar panels in the film will be about the same size as a typical battery cell, which will provide enough energy to power a home.AAE has produced several documentaries about solar technologies over the years.
Solaris, which was filmed in Oregon, is the sixth.
AAE is producing its own film on solar technology.
Solar Is: Solar Is focuses on the solar cells used to make solar cells and how that process differs from the manufacturing process.
The solar cells in the documentary are made by solar energy companies like SunPower, and they are made to last hundreds of years.
The film also explores the technology behind the solar power technology, which involves building a solar power plant that can generate electricity from the sunlight.
It can be built by building large, compact solar panels, and by using mirrors to control how the solar energy is reflected.
The panels in Solaris will be made of silicon or a composite material, the AEA said.
